7-Eleven Japan Company, the country’s largest convenience store chain, is set to introduce Vietnam’s banh mi starting Tuesday as it continues to expand its foreign food offerings.
The Vietnamese sandwich will be sold at most 7-Eleven outlets across Japan, except in Hokkaido and Okinawa, at around 430 yen (US$2.75), Japanese news site Soranews24 reported.
Branded as “sweet chili sauce banh mi,” it is made with roasted pork, pickled vegetables, fresh cilantro, and a sweet chili sauce that adds a distinctive flavor accent designed for the summer season.

The chain also recently introduced South Korean-style potato (“gamja”) cheese balls, underscoring its strategy of diversifying its lineup with international flavors and catering to evolving consumer demand for global-inspired convenience foods.
