Ninh Binh among world’s cheapest destinations for Easter holiday
Online travel booking site Agoda has listed Ninh Binh, where the Hollywood movie “Kong: Skull Island” was filmed in 2016, one of 10 cheapest destinations for this year’s Easter holiday.
“Located just an hour from Hanoi, its towering peaks, tranquil waterways, giant temples, and storied pagodas have captivated all who venture there,” Agoda says.
Rising to fame as the setting for the blockbuster film “Kong: Skull Island,” Ninh Binh, home to UNESCO World Heritage Site Trang An Landscape Tourist Complex, has experienced a resurgence of interest from visitors.
The average hotel room rate here is $69, according to Agoda.
Ninh Binh was home to the ancient capital of Hoa Lu during the reign of the Dinh Dynasty (968-980).
It is famous for a two-hour boat tour winding down paddy fields and stunning caves that costs VND150,000 ($6.39); at least four passengers are required for a trip. Visitors can also do a trek through 500 winding stone steps to hike to the top of Mount Mua.
Other destinations on the list were Khon Kaen in Thailand, Sibu in Malaysia, Surakarta in Indonesia, Puri in India, Bacolod in the Philippines, Chiba in Japan, Gwangju in South Korea, Kinmen Island in Taiwan and Brisbane in Australia.
The Easter holiday falls on Sunday, April 9, this year.
