What is Evisa for Vietnam?
Vietnam evisa or Vietnam electronic visa (symbolized as EV) has been introduced by the Vietnam Immigration Department since February 2, 2017. This kind of Vietnamese visa is applied and issued online.
An e-visa for Vietnam is valid by 90 days only with a single entry only.
After 2 years of suspension due to Covid-19, Vietnam evisa has been resumed since March 15, 2022, and follows the same regulations as before Covid-19.

E-visa Requirements
If you are eligible for a Vietnam e visa, please make sure the following to get the e-visa:
- Passport valid for at least 6 months following arrival date and having at least 02 blank pages;
- 01 passport size photo (see Vietnam visa photo requirements)
- Soft copies of passport personal data page and soft photo
- Credit cards to make payment online for e-visa fee, (American Express card is not accepted).
Vietnam Visa Exemption
What is Vietnam Visa Exemption?
Vietnam visa exemption (also known as Vietnam visa waiver, or Vietnam visa free) means the case that a foreign national is allowed to enter Vietnam and stay in the country for a certain period of time without having to follow any Vietnam visa procedure as the Vietnam government has signed the bilateral/unilateral visa exemption agreement for his/her country.
This kind of visa exemption is completely different from a Vietnam visa exemption certificate (also known as Vietnam 5 years visa).
Those who enter Vietnam under visa exemption will get the exemption stamp as follows on their passport:

Important notes regarding Vietnam visa exemption:
- The 30-day interval between 02 stays with visa exemption has been removed in accordance with the new law on entry, exit, transit, and residence of foreigners in Vietnam which takes effect on July 1, 2020.
- British National Overseas (BNO) passport holders are not eligible for the 15-day Vietnam visa exemption. So, they need to apply for a visa to visit Vietnam.
- Visa exemption includes visa exemption for entry, exit and transit.
- The visa-free stay period is counted from the date of entry.

Other Vietnam Visa Exemption Cases
- The 30-day visa exemption is granted to those entering the coastal economic zones decided by the Government when those zones meet the following conditions:
- having an international airport,
- having their own space;
- having defined geographical boundaries and being separate from the mainland;

- APEC Business Travel Card (ABTC) holders with valid passports are exempted from Vietnam visa requirements for a stay of no longer than 60 days. If you want to stay longer without leaving Vietnam, see exemption of Vietnam stay with ABTC.
Conditions for Making Vietnam Visa Exemption
To enter Vietnam with a Vietnam visa exemption, the eligible travelers are required to ensure:
- their passport valid for at least 6 months following their date of arrival in Vietnam; and
- their passport has at least 02 blank pages.

E-visa Application
Step 1: Fill your e-visa information
- Access to the website www.evietnamvisa.vn and click to the tab “APPLY E-VISA“
- Purpose of visit: You can choose any purpose to antry Vietnam such as: Tourism, Bussiness, Working, Studying…
- Type of visa: There is just available for E-visa for 30 days single entry. You can entry and exit Vietnam once within 30 days.
- Date of arrival: This is intended entry date, your e-visa will be valid from this date.
- Port of arrival: This is entry check-points such as airports, land ports and seaports.
- Rush services: You can choose the time for e-visa processing as 3-5 working days, urgent service: 2 working days, 1 working days or 4 working hours.
Step 2: Upload personal information
Upload your personal photo and passport. Fill your passport information and contact inform in the required boxes.
- Portrait photo (4x6cm): Looking straight and without glasses.
- Passport data page: Full page including photo, personal information and ICAO lines.
Step 3: Confirm and make payment
- Check carefully your e-visa information and make payment for e-visa fee.
- In this step our website will send you a confirmed email with your e-visa informtion. You can also check your “CHECK E-VISA STATUS” here: https://www.evietnamvisa.vn/check-e-visa-status.html
- This e-visa fee is not refunded if your application is refused or your visa letter contains any wrong details since you provide incorrect details in the application form.
Step 4: Receive your e-visa
- After your payment is completed, we process your e-visa with “Rush service” that you choosed.
- We send you e-visa throgh your registered email with PDF attached file.
